Breaking the “convenience” food habit
They do it on T.V.; why can't you? Clean sweep your kitchen and cupboards! Invite a friend over or have your nutritional coach go through every food item and decide if it's a food that will push you towards or propel you away from accomplishing your goals.
Nutritional Coaching helps you determine exactly how to "fuel" your body properly to meet your goals. The purpose is to learn how to build a healthy, happy body while eating nutritiously and maintaining a lifestyle that works for you.
We will begin your assessment by taking a snapshot of your current lifestyle and eating habits. This will help us become aware of any deficiencies, for example water intake, protein, vitamins and minerals. We also identify any excess such as toxins, heavy metals and sodium which may be causing either weight gain, prevention of weight loss, low levels of energy, or allergies.
You will learn how to incorporate healthy foods into your diet simply and gradually. Being able to distinguish between which foods are nutritious and which ones are simply well-marketed, will give you a head start towards achieving your goals.
Consumer Awareness
Knowledge is potential power
I also teach consumer awareness. Label reading and a general understanding of carbohydrates, proteins and all fats will wipe away any confusion you may be experiencing when it comes to shopping. Sometimes teaming up with your nutritional coach in the grocery store can help you fill a cart, the healthy, nutrient-rich contents of which will make you proud at the checkout counter.
That starts with planning. Creating a shopping list may seem time-consuming, but buying incorrect ingredients and items may lead to more time that you must unnecessarily spend at the gym or you saying negative things to yourself that you don't need to hear. With Nutritional Coaching, you will first create a template of your basic list. You will also learn what to do or what to buy and how to shop when special occasions arise or when different seasonal produce items become available. That will make you better prepared to meet those challenges while still staying true to your goals.
Incorporating new foods or simply re-evaluating old ones can seem tough. Together, we will do menu planning suited for your lifestyle. Sharing ideas and hearing about new combinations you hadn’t thought about will prove to be invaluable.
Self Discovery
Garbage in, garbage out
Knowing what's going into your body is one thing, but do you know what's going on in the inside? Understanding which foods are spiking your blood sugar, creating cravings which lead to unwanted weight gain, and discovering which foods are pushing you into mood swings and causing you to have energy dips, will help you to make better food choices.
